Jennifer Lopez admitted last year that she "never dreamed" of getting back together with her ex-fiancé Ben Affleck, and no one was "more surprised" than the two.

The 52-year-old singer and actress, who reunited with Ben 18 years after announcing their engagement, says her relationship with the 49-year-old actress was "a beautiful thing".

Speaking on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show', she said, "I don't think anyone is more surprised than we are.

"No, you would never have imagined such a thing could happen. It's a beautiful thing."

Jennifer and Ben got back together in April 2021 after dating in 2002 and calling off their engagement two years later.

The “Marry Me” star also admitted that she has “never been this good,” and this is partly due to her reunion with the “Last Duel” actor.

He told PEOPLE: "I've never been better. It's just that we're all in a beautiful moment.

"I feel so lucky, happy and proud to be with him. It's a beautiful love story where we got a second chance."

Earlier this week, Jennifer, who has twins Max and 13-year-old Emme from her ex Marc Anthony, admitted she's "super happy" with Ben.

She said: "Great date night. We're so happy. What can I tell you? We're just having a good time."

Jennifer's comments came after she admitted she "won't talk much about it", saying they were both happy to get "a second chance at true love".

He recently explained: "I'm not going to talk much about it. We've both grown up. We're the same and different. And that's the beautiful thing.

"Yes... a second chance at true love... yes. Like I said, we learned a lot. We know what's real and what isn't. So it's just – the game has changed."

While the couple reunited last year, almost two decades after their separation, Jennifer is confident that they are in a much better place this time and does not expect another breakup.

He added: "I don't think we would be able to get back together if we thought this was where we were going.

"We feel that what we find again is much more important, and how we preserve it and how we live our lives – what we share, what we don't share – the benefit of the balance, experience and wisdom we now have. It's what we've gained over the years."
