Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is expected to receive £100 million to spend in the January transfer window, but only if star player Cristiano Ronaldo leaves.
According to The Sun, should the Portuguese legend succeed in getting the transfer he seems so eager to get, Ten Hag could receive an additional £30 million. The Dutchman is thought to have around £70 million available to further strengthen his team this winter.
In order to compete with Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title, Ten Hag has already made six signings for a combined cost of about £230 million, but reports claim that he is still looking to add at least three more players.
The move for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong by United seems to still be a possibility. The Old Trafford team had been connected to a number of strikers during the summer transfer window, but speculation appears to have subsided as a result of Marcus Rashford's promising start to the season.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is currently under contract with the team through 2023, but no other teams have expressed interest in becoming his next stop.
At Manchester United this season, Cristiano Ronaldo has had difficulty getting into games.
In the Europa League victory over Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday, the Portuguese forward scored his first goal of the season. However, he also made headlines for appearing to turn down a medic who was trying to take a selfie with him at halftime, which has not been well received on social media.
After teams like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Chelsea decided against pursuing Ronaldo, a Saudi Arabian team made an outrageous offer for him.
According to the Spanish publication Marca, Al-Hilal offered the United superstar a contract worth a staggering £210 million for just two seasons.
