Cardi attended the school for three years (from the sixth to the eighth grade), and the principal and pupils both claimed that they were completely unprepared for her visit.
Cardi spoke candidly with the students during the unannounced drop-in about their favorite classes, teachers, and life lessons.
A few of the students' questions were also addressed by Cardi.She presented I.S.232 at the conclusion of her visit with a $100,000 gift that she wants to see used for tutoring and music/dance after-school programs.
As soon as Cardi announced the donation, the students cheered wildly, and the teachers and administrators sobbed almost immediately.
The stop by Cardi is a stop on her tour with the Queens-based nonprofit, Community Capacity Development.
